Choir and Church Organ

We have a new Director of Music, Phil Sibbald  who has been developing our music and worship. We have a diversity of music; from a music group that plays on the 4th Sunday service to a robed choir and organ.

Our choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) We have about 16 regular members, predominantly upper voices (sopranos and altos) but also some tenors and a bass.

The choir sings at the 10.00 am Sunday services; both ‘Morning Worship’ and ‘Holy Communion’, at special weekday services on special occasions and also at many of the numerous weddings that are held in St Mary’s.

Church Organ

The organ is a small 2 manual Walker organ installed in 1879 and restored with minor modifications during the 20th century. It has a fine tone and is amplified to ensure that the sound reaches all parts of the building. A full specification may be seen at the National Pipe Organ Register.
